Signing of the GOI-supported Line of Credit Agreement between Exim Bank of India and Ministry of Economy and Finance of Togo

On 23 June 2021, a $40 million Line of Credit Agreement to support electrification of 350 villages in Togo through solar photo-voltaic system was signed between Exim Bank of India and Ministry of Economy and Finance of Togo. On behalf of Togolese Government, Hon’ble Minister of Economy and Finance H.E. Mr. Sani Yaya signed the Agreement while Mr. Selva Kumar, Exim Bank’s regional representative signed it on behalf of Exim Bank of India. Hon’ble Minister of Energy and Mines of Togo H.E. Ms. Mila Aziablé was also present in the signing ceremony.

On this occasion, Minister Sani Yaya thanked the Government of India for the Line of Credit offer. Highlighting that the project will strengthen the community resilience of rural localities through access to solar energy, Minister emphasized that the Line-of-Credit project demonstrates the excellent cooperation between the two countries. He reiterated that the project is consistent with Togo’s electrification strategy and its 2025 roadmap objectives. It is also in line with United Nations SDG Goal 7 to guarantee access to reliable and sustainable energy services.
